Feelings for supreme power and things to do in Barsana: Day 1

My Trip, Religious - Shubham Varshney - March 19, 2018

things to do in barsana

This post was most recently updated on April 20th, 2018

“When will happen and how will happen, what should I give the reference?
When you are up then, for what I have to worry.
Every second, every minute, my soul can manifest that
You are here, you are present hither and thither”

These are the lines which are written on a wall in a small town Barsana, near to Mathura and Delhi. It is the village of Radha Rani, the saying-consort of Lord Krishna, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Hope you all are acquainted with him, from the Indian Mythologies, he is the preserver of this world and one of the sole powers which are ubiquitous. My sanctimonious part and full reverence to my deities, taken me to this village and right after entering in this town, I heard my inner voice which was like “I have had made the right choice”.

Barsana is a village, near Mathura and somewhat 132 km is the distance from Delhi. This city is situated in the foothills of Aravali hills. There is a saying that on the hill where the Palace of Radha Rani is, is the mountain form taken by Lord Bhramha, the creator of this World. And the anecdote is that Lord Bhramha expresses his desires that he wanted to live in the feet of Radha Rani. Lord Krishna in his notorious age had many girl-friends, but Radha Rani was the one to whom he loved the most. And now they both are worshiped together, as a couple though they are not.

This village quite a well famous not only among Indians but for some foreigners too, as I was able to spot some. The main temple or the Palace of Radha Rani is at top of the hill (called Bhramha Parvat) in the center of the village. There are two ways which can lead you to the sanctum sanctorum where the couple is magnificently present in the form of Idols, one is the steps way and the second one is the upward plain incline way. No matter which way you choose but the thing is, they both worth. Once you will get to stand in front of the Idols and you will start feeling fanatic behavior in you and you will be able to create a deeper relationship with the sole power.

Well, it may sound a little bit surprising that this is the village where one should visit at least for once because hearing the tales from the saints about the superficial power that they had done this thing here and that thing there. Imagining the playings of Lord Krishna at the right front place is the thing which can provide you the real calm. If you had a kind and gentle heart than this place will make you feel the presence of Lord in the air, in the sand, or even in the wells. The air keeps moaning itself “Radhey Radhey” and even the gravel paths keep churning the same “Radhey Radhey”.

They say that the wells (also emptied), once had all medicinal herbs were present in them and the water was as pure as the love which had the power to rejuvenate anyone. There were lots of things which are very beautiful and safely kept by the caretakers, who even had the small connection with the divine form. Digging into more deeper in the tales of Lord Krishna, there were 8 other female-close-friends other than Shree Radha Rani lord have had. With whom they played, they used to tease them, makes fun of them and also loved very much. In today’s time, in Barsana there are 8 temples where all the 8 Gopis resides and the main from the mains is Lalita Devi, sitting on the peak of a hill, the constant companion of the couple.

Things to do in Barsana just to make the most out of your trip:

  • Visit all the eight temples of each gopi (Sakhi), at each temple you will see that how nature’s beauty lie at the feet of supreme power.
  • Climb up all the stairs which led to the Radha Rani temple and others stack of stairs to the Maan Mandir (temple).
  • Try out some snacks at Rangeeli Gali, buy some souvenirs and take back them to your home.
  • Drink sugarcane juice as much as you can, it was just in 10 bucks.
  • Join the sermon chanting at any of the temples and play some instrument if you want and let yourself drift into the state of nirvana.

These are the couple of things which one can do in the lavish village, and in the last, I believe that exploring a whole city cannot be possible, it is more of a journey than a destination. So, here I have had discussed all the things that I have gained from this village and just wanted that have a visit to this village and I bet you, you will have to get used to it.

Barsana seems truly exceptional and a great place to explore, Shubham. How many days would be enough to see all of the highlights Bursana has to offer?

Looks like an interesting place for sure! Barsana is located in a way that I guess one can enjoy a blend of cultures – UP, Delhi and Rajasthan.
